Florida statute requires that: “The charter school and the sponsor shall cooperate in making arrangements that ensure that transportation is not a barrier to equal access for all students residing within a reasonable distance of the charter school…” Keeping students safe while getting them to and from school is essential, and numerous statutes speak to the requirements regarding school transportation. Whether a school acquires their own buses or contracts with an outside agency, the ultimate responsibility for ensuring compliance with transportation requirements falls on the school. This webinar was presented by Jamie Warrington from the Department of Education’s Transportation Department who discussed the essential requirements.
